Howard W. Roddy joined Memorial Health Care System in July 1998 at Vice President of Advocacy & Healthy Community.  His responsibilities include Advocacy, Memorial’s four community-based primary care clinics, Diversity Officer, and serves as the liaison for other hospital and community partnership initiatives including the Samaritan Center, Project Access, Church Health Teams, and the Step ONE Initiative to Optimize health through nutrition and exercise.

He most recently served for 17 years as the Administrator/Director of the Chattanooga-Hamilton County Health Department in Chattanooga, Tennessee.

Roddy received a B.S. degree in Chemistry from Austin Peay State University and earned a M.S. degree in Environmental Health Administration from East Tennessee State University.  In 2000, he was conferred a Fellow in Creating Healthier Communities by Health Forum, a division of the American Hospital Association.

He has served in leadership positions on the boards of several state and regional health care organizations, including the Southern Health Association and the Tennessee Public Health Association.  Locally, he served on the boards of Metro YMCA of Chattanooga, the Hamilton County Regional Health Council, the Salvation Army, Alexian Brothers of the Southeast, Inc., the East Tennessee State University Foundation, the Tennessee Valley Federal Credit Union, and the University of Chattanooga Foundation, Inc.

Roddy and his wife, Donna, have two sons, Howard and John.
